Life In Bible Times

What God Is Like

Psalm 2:4 says that God is like a king on heavens throne.  In Bible times, a

king sat on his throne to give orders and make decisions.  To say that God is a king on

heaven's throne means that what he commands will happen.

Hunting

Men in Bible times hunted and fished for food. Sometimes they hunted animals

with bows and arrows.  But usually they tried to catch birds and small

animals with traps.  The first hunter mentioned in the Bible is Nimrod, way

back in Genesis 10:9.

Booths

Each year during the Feast of booths, Israelites families camped outdoors

for a week in shelters made of branches.  this reminded them that God had kept

their ancestors safe in the desert when they traveled from Egypt to the promised land.

The Bowl of Metal

This giant bowl, which was made of metal, held over 17,500 gallons of water.  It

was like a large round pool.  It rested on the backs of twelve metal bulls

three facing in each direction.  The bowl was used to fill the smaller

bowls the priests washed in before going near to God's temple.
